Should You Take Supplements for Anti-Aging?

For thousands of years, there is evidence that people have been searching for the secret to endless youth. Myths such as the Fountain of Youth, which is a Taino legend that describes a spring where the waters restore youth, show that this has been on people’s minds for centuries. The myth itself is thousands of years old.

These days, we have various cultural practices that point to our quest for youth. We research anti-aging and apply the principals to our lives. We work hard to make our skin look young. We eat right and exercises to stay youthful. We also take supplements.

In fact, taking supplements is a pretty common practice. Does taking them help with anti-aging? Well, it depends.

What Is Aging Really?

Aging is complex, and through science we understand more about it now than we ever have. It is a biological process that goes through phases, starting with embryogenesis until ultimately, all the cells die off. Each species has an age limit, and the final phase of aging results in death for that species, and there are no exceptions.

No matter how much research we do, we ultimately can’t change the inevitable. However, what we can do is help ourselves reach closer to our species’ limit through our diet and lifestyle choices.
